I was fortunate enough to actually get some time off to take a mini-vacay up to Edmonton, AB for the weekend to catch the Oilers hockey game and for some much needed R&R. I was thrilled to be leaving the madness behind and enjoy some time away even if it was only for the weekend.

I searched a few hotel websites that were close to the Rogers Place for the hockey game and stumbled across a gem of an offer that immediately caught my eye, “Shop and Stay.” Oh my, what do we have here, I thought. Anything to do with shopping and fancy hotels were a ten in my book. So I click and discover that not only is this hotel connected to the city centre mall but they are actually offering a 100 dollar gift card shopping extravaganza if you book a room with them. Wow, now thats my kind of deal!! I booked with suttonplace.com immediately, duh.

When I arrived, I was greeted by warm staff and even got my room upgraded! Another score woo!! If any of you were watching my Instagram stories, I had posted a video of my room, which had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for me when I arrived might I add, with some pretty views of the city.

I got up early the next morning for a quick dip in the pool which was on the top floor of the building, with a view of the city skyline surrounded in concrete beauty. Thankfully there was a treadmill that I so desperately needed thanks to a carb filled evening the night before at the hotel’s restaurant CHOP where I received yet another gift card for. I do recommend the White Greyhounds, they are extremely delicious vodka cocktails.

So here I am, off to do some shopping with my 100 dollar gift card to the Edmonton City Centre Mall, feeling like I’d just won the lottery. When you think about it, you’re actually getting your room paid for so it’s basically a win win. I must say I was impressed with the selection of stores in the mall and was particularly fond of the new Club Monaco store where I purchased a couple shirts and pants with the gift card!

The weekend was definitely a success, despite the Edmonton Oilers losing 5-1 to the Chicago BlackHawks. I do recommend you check out the new Rogers Arena, its definitely something to see. If I ever become a wealthy prominent fashion blogger, I will be buying seats in the sky lounge and staying at the Sutton Place Hotel for more gift cards, a girl always loves a good deal!
