My Top 5 Make-up Must Haves

Today I want to share with you my 5 makeup must haves. Since this is my very first beauty blog post, I thought I would start with my all time beauty favourites. Perhaps some of these products are part of your makeup stash too?

Also, I would love to hear your top 5 makeup products you can’t live without! Please comment below so I can see what your top picks are as well. I am always eager to hear about new products!

I never had much luck in the past when it came to face products. There would always be some sort of pitfall–either the foundation would cause major breakouts or barely conceal my imperfections. I’ve always been a fan of Clinique’s skin care line ranging from their unbelievable toners to eye creams so trying out their makeup line was a no brainer. When I discovered this multitasking SPF cream I knew I found a keeper. The consistency is a tad watery compared to other BB creams but I’m fine with that because this stuff conceals, controls breakouts and prevents knew ones from starting and did I mention it has an SPF 40?! Yes, 40, my later self will thank me for using a sunscreen daily on my face! I use this BB Cream as a foundation and even on nights out! It has light to medium coverage and feels like nothing on the skin. It’s perfect because it maintains a dewy-look. In other words, it doesn’t cling to the dry patches as much as other foundations and excellent for us Canucks in our winter months! I have been using this product for awhile and it is a great substitution to foundation. I hate wearing anything heavy so this BB cream provides me with enough coverage to cover up redness and blemishes. It is lightweight and perfect for my oily and acne prone skin. So happy I found this and hoping it does not discontinue like some of our favourite products from the past, sigh.

MAC undoubtedly, hands down, has the best lipsticks on the market, in my opinion. I’ve always been obsessed with their Mattes and Satins especially. This lipstick right here is my favourite of all time. As some of you may know from my Instagram posts that I’m a sucker for a nude lip always have and always will. Faux is the perfect shade of a really pretty muted pink nude colour! I can see how this lipstick is a cult fav for some, the colour is a perfect shade for almost all skin tones. It’s wearable, whenever and wherever, with every eye makeup. The satin finish is always a win, since it’s neither too dry or creamy. This is a perfect everyday lipstick for people who are not into bold colours and want to have a more natural look but just enough pigmentation to pack a punch! Just a side note, I got this lipstick free for bringing back my empty MAC makeup containers, so an all around win!

I had discovered this bronzer/blush a few years ago when it was part of a limited series at MAC but luckily for me they now permanently have it in stock due to its popularity. I absolutely love this product! Cheeky Bronze provides a beautiful peachy pink bronze natural glow to your cheeks and you can use it as a bronzer or if you don’t feel like using blush you can use this as a substitute and it works just as well! It is not too overwhelming on the face and it’s great for a subtle highlight without the crazy sparkle. I always get compliments when I wear it and it lasts all day long! Cheeky Bronze is a good standby for the “what blush should I wear today?” solution. The warm glow will have you looking so radiant that you won’t go back to anything else, trust.

I’ve been a fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills ever since she launched her product line a few years ago! Anastasia is known as the brow guru on Rodeo Drive in Bev Hills and has done almost every starlet known in Hollywood from Jlo to Kim K. Nicely filled in brows have always been an important part in my daily makeup routine. I started off using her very popular Brow Wiz pencil but opted for the Brow Definer after finding out she had upped the game and incorporated a more angular tip. What I like about this product is the perfect shape to quickly run through the brows to fill in any missing hairs or patches and how easy it is to apply! The flat side of the product is the perfect size, and I like how it has a sharp tip so that I can define the edges. Every girl should own a brow pencil and I highly recommend the Brow Definer as your go to!

Lastly in my top 5 makeup must haves, I’ve included the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara!! Apparently this mascara has been around for a while but I’ve only just found out about it recently when I got a free sample in one of my many sample bags I get for being a VIB rouge devotee. Anyway, what I like about this mascara is that it doesn’t smudge, flake, and holds my curl all day. Sidenote: I use Diorshow Maximizer 3D Lash Primer along with the mascara to create even more of a dramatic look. It’s not a very wet formula which I like and its easy to apply even when you are in a rush. The wand is curved and big with lots of bristles so it coats every single eyelash evenly, some mascaras I have used have missed some of my lashes and I have had to go over them seperately but with this mascara I don’t, it is not clumpy but its also not runny, the consistency of the mascara is perfect, its smooth without being too wet. This mascara does not budge, I have never had any crumbly bits of fallout underneath my eyes or any smudging when wearing this mascara and I wear it for an entire day. The packaging is definitely super cute too!

Well I hope my top 5 makeup must haves were helpful to you all and that I was able to enlighten you with products that I think are definitely worth the buck! Please comment below and tell me your fav products and what you thought of my first beauty post 🙂

Happy shopping!!

xoxo

Wow awesome post! I will definitely be trying these products. They sound really great. I’ve been looking for a good concealer and the lipstick shade from Mac looks so pretty. You sold me on the Mac products. I will try them for sure.
